Lago Vista ISD COVID-19 Response ProtocolsSeptember 20, 2021

Lago Vista ISD recognizes that the situation surrounding COVID-19 is ever changing. As the year progresses, LVISD will use the following COVID–19 Response Protocols. We hope these strategies will ensure a safe and healthy learning and working environment for our students and staff.  The decision to move from one stage to another will not be based on just one factor. We will continue to work with local and state officials, as well as with legal counsel regarding regulatory authority pertaining to these matters.

Lago Vista ISD Temporary Remote ConferencingSeptember 6, 2021

As you may be aware, Lago Vista ISD is seeing an elevated number of positive student and staff cases of COVID-19 on the high school campus. The District is also experiencing a limited number of available substitute teachers across the District and is unable to ensure adequate classroom coverage in the coming days. As a result, all Lago Vista High School students will shift to a temporary period of remote conferencing support beginning Wednesday, September 8 through Friday, September 10. All regularly scheduled extra-curricular activities at Lago Vista High School are temporarily suspended and will resume on Monday, September 13.

Note: This announcement does NOT impact instructional settings or extracurricular activities at Lago Vista Middle School, Lago Vista Intermediate School, or Lago Vista Elementary School.

Remote conferencing support is a short-term setting that is generally only available to students who are either identified as positive for COVID-19 or close contacts. Students participating in remote conferencing are provided with four hours of synchronous support per day, which includes one required daily attendance meeting. TEA will only allow a student to participate in remote conferencing for twenty days over the course of the 2021-2022 school year. That said, all students at Lago Vista High School will be placed into a three-day period remote conferencing on September 8-10.

Throughout this temporary period of remote conferencing support, all Lago Vista High School students will be expected to follow an early release bell schedule remotely at home and to meet remotely with their classes. Additional information will be provided by the campus.

Lago Vista ISD expects to resume normal high school operations beginning on Monday, September 13, 2021.

Please know that we are moving to remote conferencing for Lago Vista High School students out of necessity. Our leadership team continues to meet and is working diligently to determine additional ways to stay ahead of the COVID-19 virus in order to provide you and your children the best and safest educational setting we can. It is our hope that we can work together to continue to mitigate the spread of this virus in order to provide uninterrupted learning opportunities for our students and to keep our schools open.

Mask MandateAugust 11, 2021

Lago Vista ISD is aware of the mask mandate for Travis County schools issued this evening by Judge Andy Brown.  The District's leadership team is currently reviewing the order and is consulting with legal counsel to determine the impact of this order in relation to Governor Abbott’s Executive Order prohibiting school districts from requiring masks.  If there are any changes to our Lago Vista ISD health and safety protocols, we will certainly communicate that information to our parents and families.  In the meantime, the District strongly encourages students and staff to wear a mask while on campuses and in District facilities. Masks will be available upon request.

For the latest information on COVID-19 protocols, please stay connected with us by visiting the Lago Vista ISD website, downloading our free smartphone app, and following the District's Facebook and Twitter pages.

We are very excited to begin the 2021-2022 academic year this Thursday, August 12th! We will be opening face-to-face for all learners with health and safety guidelines in place at each campus. Please note that these protocols and guidelines will be modified and updated to ensure compliance with regulatory guidance, as appropriate. We look forward to an excellent year of teaching and learning in the Viking Nation!
