District of Innovation Plan

The 84th Texas Legislature passed House Bill 1842, which allows traditional independent school districts the ability to access flexibilities which had previously been reserved for Texas’ open enrollment charter schools. In order for an independent school district to obtain these flexibilities, the Districts must seek designation as a “District of Innovation.” On March 24, 2016, the Lago Vista ISD Board of Trustees initiated the process by adopting a resolution to pursue a “District of Innovation” designation.  The final plan was approved by the Lago Vista ISD Board of Trustees on June 12, 2017. The Board of Trustees approved the Plan Renewal at the June 13, 2022 board meeting.

Campus & District Improvement Plans

Under provisions of the Texas Education Code, every school district is required to develop a district plan to improve student performance. Lago Vista ISD’s District Educational Improvement Council (DEIC) utilizes community, business, and staff input to develop the District’s Improvement Plan. District and campus plans are developed annually and include performance objectives and strategies that are mutually supportive of the District goals approved by the Lago Vista ISD Board of Trustees.
