LAGO MIDDLE SCHOOL BAND MAKES HISTORY

On March 6th, the Lago Vista Middle School Concert Band performed at their UIL Concert and Sightreading evaluation at Llano High School. The band began work on their concert repertoire in January to perform on the stage during the concert portion. During the sightreading portion, the band is presented a new piece of music to read with only seven minutes of instruction allotted to the director before they perform for judge evaluation. For the first time in school history, all six judges gave the band a SUPERIOR rating, earning the band a “Sweepstakes,” presented to schools who earn straight superior ratings in both concert and sightreading from all judges! We are extremely proud of these amazing students!

The Vikings hosted 5 districts to compete in our area UIL Academic Events. The night was a huge success during which students showcased their academic talents including writing, speaking, spelling, listening, and general content knowledge. Overall, Lago Vista came in 3rd, behind Lampasas and Gateway. These competitive districts came out in high numbers, but the Vikings were able to earn awards and recognition in several events.

Congrats to One Act Play
January 27, 2024

Our One Act Play Team of Brookley Janson, Lucy Smith, Silas Gambrell, Summer Thatcher, Declan Irwin, Quintin Whitted, Cora Larkin, Starry Dannelley, Xander Terhune, Brookelyn Cushman, Emma Phillips, Stella Granger, Leighton Melendez, Eli Mangum and Brody Stoner traveled to Lampasas last week to compete in the District Contest and came away with several outstanding awards! While we didn't do quite as well as we'd hoped, the judge said she had the "hardest time in ranking that she'd ever had". Thank you to Mrs. Whitted for her amazing work and dedication with the students!
