Burnet - September 10, 2024
We are so proud of the hard work and effort these athletes put into everything they do! They push each other in their training and races. We love the way they cheer for each other and support one another (although the girls do not seem to like the boys singing on the bus). Our boys and girls cross country teams competed at the Burnet Invitational on Tuesday, September 10th. Below are the results of the race.
8th-grade girls competed against 172 other runners. There were 11 teams competing and we earned 7th place overall. Our top 5 runners for the meet were, Madilyn Weldon, Lucy Smith, Vanessa Lee, Taytum Stojanik, Yoselin Zelaya. Also competing for the team was Addison Brown, Peyton Christianson, Lauren Carpenter, Zoe Krautter, Jo Lynn Salinas, Aislin Munoz, Piper Knisely, Emerie Magana, Astrid Hernandez, Hailey Hipskind, Gemma Tuttle, Anberlin McClellen, Makayla Reidy, Victoria Nunez, Malia Nieves, Gabby Alvarado, and Stella Maxwell.
7th grade girls competed against 13 teams with over 170 other runners in a very competitive race. Our top 5 runners for the meet were Bennett Buster, Summer Neid, Gracyn Koncak, Liata Keehl, and Cora Larkin. Also competing for the 7th grade girls - Glendy Chavez, Piper Brown, and Lillian Kamenzind.
8th grade boys raced against 13 teams with over 130 runners and earned ninth place. Our top 5 scoring runners for the 8th-grade boys were John Roberts, Bennett Walker, Mason Lee, William Hampton, and Andrew Pennington. Also competing for the 8th-grade boys were Trent Norman, Garan Childs, Gabriel Manley, Brock McKinney, Diego Rodriguez and Gavin Merritt.
7th grade boys competed against 11 teams and earned ninth place. Earning a top 10 medal for the team were Tyler Tarlton (earning 2nd place overall) and Kooper Kudrna (earning 4th place overall). In addition, the top 5 scoring runners were Ethan Munoz, Luis Andres, Carter Brannen. Also competing for our 7th grade team were Silas Gambrell, Liam O’Bryant, and Cirilo Haynes.
Our next race is Tuesday, September 17th at our HS course. It will be a “relay” style race against Marble Falls and Burnet. Our teams will create relay teams of 4 with each member racing a mile loop on our cross country course.
