Certified Welders!

Congrats to the 22 welders that passed the Visual and destructive tests necessary to verify the welding skill's proper application. This test complies with the A.W.S. D1.1 structural steel code. This is the first year that individual welders took multiple qualifying tests which included the vaunted 6G pipe test. Andrew Rowin passed 4 types and David Garcia passed 5.

State UIL Academic May 18-19, 2023

State TrackMay 11, 2023

Saydie Kassell and Swayde Griffin competed at the state track meet on Thursday.

Saydie placed 7th in the 200 and Swayde placed 4th in the 110 hurdles.

We are so proud of you both!


DECA International Career Development Conference April 24-26, 2023 in Orlando, Florida

Sydnie Crim and Rylee Bing recently traveled to the DECA International Career Development Conference in Orlando, Florida. The conference included more than 15,000 DECA students from around the world attending leadership workshops and competing in business written & role-play events.

Sydnie and Rylee competed in the Marketing Management Team Decision Making event. Even though they did not earn an award, they gained invaluable business leadership experience.

Congratulations to our DECA team for having such a successful learning journey this year!


Regional UIL Academic, Speech, & Debate April 20 & 21, 2023

Viking Debate

Mr. Garcia had a great weekend with this group!

  • The Speech Team won 2nd Place Overall
  • Adelynn Barron took First Place in LD Debate and is headed to State!
  • Sadie Stark was 4th in Informative Speaking
  • Tripp Henderson was 5th in Prose Interpretation

Computer Science

Our Computer Science team sat in 2nd place going into the programming portion of the contest, a two hour opportunity to complete as many coding problems given 12 problem stems. With less than one minute left in the contest, the team submitted one last program...and surpassed the team sitting in 1st place to WIN by 11 points and also scoring the most correct programs in the state of Texas (in 4A)!

4A Regional Boys Golf Tournament April 20 & 21, 2023

The LVHS boys golf team took two qualifying members to the Region III 4A Golf Tournament. After two days of competition, an additional playoff hole, and a torrential downpour from the heavens, the final results are as follows:

After winning a playoff hole at the conclusion of the tournament, Knox Renfro won 2nd medalist to bring home the silver medal and advance to the State Golf Tournament! The State Golf Tournament will be held at The Legends Golf Course in Kingsland, TX., on May 22nd and 23rd. His two-day scores and total were 80-77 (157).

Reed Ray finished at 17th in the tournament, and his two-day scores and total were 86-82 (168). Both young men did an excellent job in the tournament and deserve recognition for their efforts. We would like to congratulate Knox on his success and advancement and wish him the best of luck in the State Championship. GO VIKINGS!

LV to DC April 11-15, 2023

The Lago Vista High School Viking Band travelled to Washington, D.C. to perform at the World War II Memorial on the National Mall from April 11th-15th. The band had the opportunity to visit many of the important sites and museums in our nation’s capital, including touring the National Capitol Building, Lincoln Memorial, Vietnam War Memorial, Korean War Memorial, Iwo Jima Memorial, Arlington National Cemetery, Mount Vernon (Home of George Washington), the Smithsonian American History Museum, the National Holocaust Memorial, Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial, the National Archives Building, Ford’s Theater, and much more.

Area TrackApril 19, 2023 - Gatesville High School

Vikings are doing great at Area Track! The following will be moving on to Regionals:

  • Saydie Kassell won the 200m dash with a new school record of 25.05 - and a Gold medal!
  • The relay team of Carli Parker, Jade Clements, Madison Kassell & Saydie Kassell won the silver medal in the sprint relay with a time of 49.41
  • The 800m relay team of Kahlen Mathes, Madison Kassell, Allisen Shipp & Saydie Kassell took second place
  • Jade ran a 59.66 to bring home the silver medal in the 400m dash
  • Lilah Smith vaulted 10’6” to bring home the bronze in PV
  • Gabby Spragley jumped 16’10” to win the bronze in long jump
  • Rylee Bing placed 4th in the high jump

 


ConExpo April 18, 2023

Students in Mr. Panter's welding classes had a great opportunity to explore opportunities and career fields within the construction industry. Companies such as RDO equipment/technology, City of Austin Public Works, MLA Geotechnical, Tree Mann solutions, and Pape Dawson Engineers were on hand to talk about careers within each of their respective businesses. Students experienced a live concrete pour, operated heavy equipment and drove heavy simulators. It was a immersive experience that provided in-depth views from current business owners. Many thanks to ACEA and the City of Austin for putting this event together.

Vikings represented like a boss at District Track. Congratulations Boys Track - District Champions! Lady Vikings had a very successful day as well with several 1st Place medals and Regional Qualifiers. We are so proud for you to represent LVHS at the Area meet, April 19th in Gatesville.

April 11-12, 2023

Maddy Inman, Colten Lane, Reagan McLaughlin, Makaila Monauni, Lily Shasky, Nick Sosa, and Zac Zaleski represented LVHS at Regionals this week.

It was a long two days of matches playing full 2 out of 3 sets with no ad scoring where some matches lasted over two hours each!

  • Maddy placed 3rd at Regionals qualifying as a State Alternate in Girls Singles.
  • Makaila and Lily placed 3rd at Regionals qualifying as a State Alternate in Girls Doubles.

  

Boys District GolfApril 3-4, 2023

The LVHS Boys golf teams competed in the District 24-4A Boys Golf Championship on April 3rd and 4th at The Legends Golf Course in Kingsland, TX. After the first day of competition, the Blue team was in 3rd place behind Marble Falls HS and Lampasas HS, and the Gold team was in 8th place.

LVHS Blue team finished the competition in 3rd place, with a two day total of 685 (346/339). Lampasas HS finished as the district champions with a two day total score of 636 (327/309), and Marble Falls HS finished as the runner-up, with a two day total score of 654 (337/317). 

Knox Renfro & Reed Ray placed in the top ten individual medalist, earning All-District recognition and they will be advancing to the regional golf tournament in Huntsville, TX on April 18th and 19th. Harper Moxley was 2nd Alternate Medalist for Regionals. See more details here...

Computer Science - 1st in District!March 22, 2023

The first day of our UIL Academic District Contests and we started off with a bang! The Viking Computer Science team cleaned up!

  • 1st place - Makaila Monauni score 216
  • 2nd place - Lincoln Smith score 208
  • 3rd place - Alex Hebert score 192
  • 4th place - Keith Beavers score 188
  • 5th place - Justin Joslin score 160
  • 7th place - Jackson Collins 120

They are also 5-time District TEAM CHAMPIONS, with a score of 1,156 points. To illustrate how amazing they are... the 2nd place team scored 412, and 3rd place scored 284.


LV Going International March 10, 2023

Seven LVHS DECA students competed in the Texas Career Development Conference (CDC) competition in Dallas. The Texas conference was attended by over 5,000 students and advisors. Two of our LVHS students (Team: Sydnie Crim & Rylee Bing) received medals as Finalists (Event: Marketing Management Team Decision Making) for the International CDC competition.

THEN, it was announced Sydnie Crim & Rylee Bing advanced as International Qualifiers for International CDC to be held in Orlando, FL, next month. When you see these students, please congratulate them on their academic success. They spent extra time outside of school preparing for the DECA exam and role play events.

Seven athletes received All-State honors from the Texas Girls Coaches Association. This is among the highest individual honors in Texas High School Cheerleading. This is the first time we have ever had all graduating seniors earn Academic All-State, which is a testament to their leadership in all phases of our program.

A Day on the Golf Course, is Better Than... February 24, 2023

Six Lady Vikings traveled to Bastrop to play a modified Colovista course and returned with 3rd place and two members placing in the top 10—Bailey Burlew & Reagan Phariss. Teammates were Lily Olson, Olivia Caston, Ripley Sinclair, and Alexa Smith. These young ladies just picked up a golf club for the first time a month ago and it is exciting watching how they progress!

V.A.S.E. February 18, 2023

We had 20 students compete in VASE (Visual Art Scholastic Event), held at Lake Travis High School in the Region 13 North. They were up against more than 1,200 students from every school - 1A to 6A - in our area. Students were judged with a one-on-one interview and the artwork they created. Every one of our students left a Regional Medalist! Three are Area Medalists and will be competing at the state event in April.

UIL Young Filmmakers February, 2023

Two LVHS students submitted entries for UIL State Film this year. David Hoofnagle submitted in the Digital Animation category, and Bck Press submitted a Narrative film. David's film, Prisoner, made it all the way to the semi-finals and fell just short of making it to the State Film Festival. Beck's film, Help, has qualified for the State Film Festival and will be shown alongside the other state qualifiers at the UT LBJ Auditorium on Wednesday February 22nd. Both students have worked extremely hard on their films.

Winter Dance Classic February 4, 2023

When the Lago Vista High School Drill Team showed up on Friday, no one knew who the Valkyries were. By mid-day Saturday…the ladies were well known! The ladies had two full days of dancing and some pretty tough competition.

 

The Valkyries brought 4 Team Dances, 3 Officer Routines, 3 Duets, 8 Solos, and 2 auditioned for Miss High Kick. Needless to say, the Valkyries came home winners! That’s impressive for our first competition this season. Amazing job by our Valkyries and we so appreciative of our entire Valkyrie Family!

On Saturday, eight LVHS DECA students competed in the District 5 Career Development Conference competition at Cedar Ridge HS (Round Rock). We are super elated to say that Brooke Everett & Amelia Robinson were recently selected by the Texas High School Coaches Association for the 4A Volleyball Super Elite Team (12 total team members). This award recognizes "student athletes across the state for their exemplary athletic achievement in their respective sport."

LVHS Cheer January 13, 2023

We are SO PROUD of our cheer team! The team competed against 50 other teams in their division on Friday, January 13th at the Fort Worth Convention Center in the UIL Spirit State Championships. After their flawless performances, they were announced as the 4A Division II State Champions with a clean sweep of all preliminary categories!

LVHS Cheerleaders know how to Bring It On! The first weekend of December, after a late night of cheering for the football team, they made their way to the Crandall Invitational cheer competition and came home with nothing less than the best!

December 11, 2022

Another early morning to get to Dallas to compete at NCA State of Texas for the first time. Hard work is paying off and they walked away with a win in a very tough 4A Game Day division. HUGE thanks to Viking Nation for showing up and rowing with us…we had the best crowd in the building!

State is one month away and we can’t wait!

Regional Quarterfinal Champions November 8, 2022

The Lady Vikings just can't quit! Bi-District, Area, and Quarterfinal wins bring them to Regional Semifinals. Take a drive on Friday, November 11 to Bryan High School where the Lady Vikings will face the Spring Hill Panthers for the bragging rites to Regional Semifinals! Show your Viking Pride, wear some blue & gold and let's watch this team continue bumping along!

Cross Country State ChampionshipNovember 4, 2022

Aly Wray was up bright and early to head to the 4A State Cross Country meet in Round Rock. Aly placed 18th out of 150 runners - we are SO PROUD OF YOU!

Though she was the only LV runner, she had an awesome team there to support her!

Bi-District Champions October 31, 2022

There only thing spooky about the Lady Viking Volleyball win last night to China Springs was maybe the fans nails after 5 game (23-25, 25-18, 23-25, 25-15, 16-14)! Congratulations Lady Vikings - we will follow you in the 4A Playoffs wherever you go! The Lady's will take on Giddings next for the Area title - time and location TBD. 

Regional Cross Country October 24, 2022

Lady Viking Cross Country team traveled to Huntsville to compete in the 4A Regional Cross Country. The Girls placed 8th as a team (out of 26 teams) and Aly Wray placed 3rd over all and will advance to the state meet Friday,November 4, 2022 @ Old Settler's Park in Round Rock, TX.

District Cross Country October 10, 2022

Lady Viking Cross Country team had a stellar day at the District Meet on Monday in Marble Falls. The Girls placed 2nd as a team at District and qualified to regionals. Aly wray placed 1st over all!

Cross CountyOctober 1, 2022-Leo Manzano invitational

Lady Vikings placed 1st of 10 teams at the Leo Manzano invitational in Marble Falls!
Aly Wray brought home 2nd place individually.

Cross CountySeptember 22, 2022-Round Rock XC Meet

Girls place 11th of 29 teams in the 2 mile gold division.
Ally placed 9th of 224 runners with a PR of 11:54.


Cross CountyAugust 27, 2022-Thrall XC Meet

Ladies placed 1st of 8 teams at Thrall. There were a total of 72 runners with the following ladies in the top 10, bringing home some hardware. Needless to say, we are thrilled you are Vikings!

The Lady Vikings Cross Country hit the trail and started the season off placing 2nd out of 14 as a team at Temple Invitation and Aly Wray placed first!
