Partners in Education Mentoring Program

Lago Vista Independent School District’s mentoring initiative serves as the framework in which to develop, support, and recognize community-based mentoring programs in LVISD elementary, middle, and high schools. The District thanks the
Lago Vista ISD Education Foundation for sponsoring this program.

Mentoring is a program in which at-risk students, or students “on the brink of success,” are paired with caring adults. The main goal of the Partners in Education Mentor Program is to provide students with an opportunity to interact with positive adult role models who will encourage and motivate students to succeed in school.

The LVISD Partners in Education Mentoring Program is a partnership of dedicated community members:

  • Providing positive adult role models for students;
  • Fostering relationships that help students become successful learners;
  • Reinforcing positive attitudes towards learning and problem-solving; and
  • Building self-esteem by motivating students to strive for academic success.
These actions are taken so that students may excel academically and accomplish their dreams and aspirations.

How can I become a mentor for the LVISD Partners in Education Mentoring Program?
1.  Complete a volunteer application.
2.  Complete a criminal history check.
3.  Complete the DFPS Online Abuse & Neglect Training.
4.  Contact us to schedule a mentor training session prior to participating in the program.

Are there other opportunities to mentor students in LVISD?

Yes! LVISD has partnered with the Lago Vista Men's Club to provide mentors for young men at LVMS and LVHS. For more information, please contact Dave Freeman.
