TRS-ActiveCare Healthcare Options

Lago Vista ISD contributes $434 per month towards the monthly premium for State healthcare plans. Employees have several healthcare options available through the State's TRS-ActiveCare program, including:

ActiveCare 1HD

  • An "Aetna Open Access Choice POS II" plan, which works very much like a PPO. 
  • This plan offers a lower premium cost that still offers comprehensive coverage.  This plan is a high deductible health plan (HDHP) for all tiers of coverage and offers plan participants the opportunity to contribute pretax dollars into a health savings account (HSA).
  • You are free to receive care from any licensed doctor or other health care provider.  
  • When you choose providers who belong to Aetna's network, you will pay less out of your pocket for covered services.  

ActiveCare Select/Select Whole Health
  • An "Aetna Select" network-only plan similar to an HMO. 
  • This plan offers lower deductible and a lower premium cost for coverage.
  • You are placed in one of two provider networks, depending on where you live. 
  • You and your covered dependents, including any dependents who temporarily or permanently live outside the network area, will be required to use providers who belong to the Aetna Whole Health network. 
  • There is no coverage if you see a provider who is not in the plan network, except for a true medical emergency.

ActiveCare Scott & White Health Plan (HMO)
  • An “Open Access HMO” plan, in which a member can go to any network provider without a referral. 
  • Members may choose a network primary care physician (PCP) if they would like to designate one, but PCPs are not required by the Scott & White Health Plan.

TRS-ActiveCare 1HD, Select, & 2
Benefits & Resources

TRS-ActiveCare 1HD, Select, and 2 Aetna subscribers have access to many resources as part of your medical plan to help you and your family live healthier and reach your wellness goals. To learn more about these benefits and tools, please view the TRS-ActiveCare information page.

Aetna Navigator
Once you are enrolled in a TRS-ActiveCare Aetna plan, you will be able to register with your secure member website, Aetna Navigator.  You can use the DocFind®, the provider search tool, check benefits and claims, take a health assessment, get started with a wellness program, learn about your Aetna member discounts, and much more. Go to and click on “Register on Aetna Navigator” to get started. You can also get Aetna Navigator mobile app.  The Aetna Mobile app works with Apple® and Android™ digital devices.  Text “Apps” to 23862** or visit  Standard messaging rates apply.

Aetna Health Concierge 
A valuable resource for TRS-ActiveCare participants is the Aetna Health Concierge.  The Aetna Health Concierge is a single point of contact for medical benefits and wellness information. Call with a problem or question, get help to find the right care, learn how a claim was paid, find out about programs that can help with specific conditions and needs – and much more. Check out the video or get more information at You may also call TRS-ActiveCare Customer Service at 1-800-222-9205 to speak with a Concierge.

Teladoc is a service that gives you 24/7/365 phone access to board-certified primary care physicians (including pediatricians). Teladoc doctors can diagnose, treat and prescribe for non-emergency problems, such as colds and flu, allergies, sinus infections, and others. Consultations are covered 100% for ActiveCare Select and ActiveCare 2 plans. For ActiveCare 1-HD, the fee is $40 per consult. Call 1-855-TELADOC (1-855-835-2362).  Download the app at or text “Get Started” to 469-804-9918. Standard text messaging rates apply.

Aetna 24-Hour Nurse Information Line
The 24-Hour Nurse Information Line lets you talk with a registered nurse when you have a health-related question or concern. The nurse can provide answers and information, help you know where to seek care and suggest things you can do until you are able to see a doctor. Call 1-800-556-1555.

TRS-ActiveCare Scott & White Health Plan (HMO)

Scott & White Health Coaching Program 
The Scott & White Health Coaching program addresses 65 different diseases and conditions and is available to Scott & White Health Plan members by calling a Health Coach at 1-877-505-7947. You can also contact a health coach via email from the Health Information Center website

Scott & White Nurse Advice Line
Nurses are available to Scott & White Health Plan members 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Nurses can give you information about how to take care of yourself at home or can help you decide if an appointment, an urgent care visit or an emergency room visit is best for your symptoms. If you want to talk to a nurse, call 1-877-505-7947.

Scott & White MOMS Program
Get important information and resources for new Moms and Dads from our MOMS program that supports families following the birth of a newborn with personal phone calls by a licensed nurse.  A MOMS program professional can be reached toll-free at 1-888-316-7947.
